THE EMERGENCE OF TOOLBOX

I lost my job in 2021 and was without one for some time. It got to the point that I was so confused about what to do and even got depressed. I didn’t know the next right step and felt neglected. But I also knew that most things happening to me resulted from my mistakes.

Mistakes in the sense that there were people that I was actually brilliant than and they were landing good jobs, friends that I was vocal than started up something. Some even took up initiatives and were moving forward.

I had a deep reflection, and I had to ask myself certain questions. I started reading books with so much focus I started paying keen attention to things. During this period, I discovered that those relationships I failed to keep when I was in school and thought weren’t important also contributed to my frustration. Back then, I had thought school was all about studying and getting good grades. I forgot to make solid friendships.

I also realized that I prayed in places where I was meant to apply wisdom. I also wasn’t positioning myself rightly. I had this mindset of what was mine was mine without positioning myself rightly.

These were some of the basic mistakes I made, and I had no idea until I had a self-reflection. That was when it dawned on me that there were certain things I would have done better if only I had the right guidance.

A few days later, I had a random conversation with my friend Salem Emmanuel, and I asked him, “Why don’t we create a value system, a community where young people (especially those who just recently graduated) can come learn from our mistakes? Then we can make them understand the basic tools/things and show them the right path.”

We share with them the mistakes we’ve made and how to prevent them because they are common, look simple, and can keep one stagnant for a long time.

This conversation resulted in the birth of ToolBOX.
